Thee U.F.O // Beaming A Moments Reflection

If Ponderous Fug was Thee U.F.O focusing their sonic attack, Beaming A Moments Reflection is the sound of them refining it. Boasting a more pronounced Krautrock influence, the Irish duo pair their infectious noise with groovier riffs, joyriding into oblivion. The wailing sirens that open “Bursting Egos” unfurl into a dank and acerbic jam, equalled in skuzz perhaps only by standout “Surveyor.” “Junk Funk Garage” is just as apt a genre descriptor as song title for the group, contrasting angular and bubbling guitar lines with impressive dexterity. But, for all its ramshackle energy, the album’s finest moments are its more restrained. When the sound and fury of “Cell Map” dissipate, the spacious soloing is cathartic, setting the stage for a more reflective second act that culminates in the hypnotic motorik pulse of “In The Long Run They Queered.”
